Bug ID: 527492
Summary: Random audio popping (clicks) when rendering AAC
inside MKVs
Classification: Applications
Product: kdenlive
Version First 26.08.2
Reported In:
Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: Rendering & Export
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
I have a small project with multiple video and audio clips. The files are MKVs
with AAC audios muxed into them.
When rendering the project to litteraly anything (from audio only WAV, ALAC to
H264/AAC or FFV1/FLAC...), there are random clicks/popping on the audio.
If I convert the audio to flac or WAV and import them separately OR remux them
into the MKVs, there's no issues
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make a project with multiple MKVs with video + AAC audio (its better if its
voice recordings, you'll find the clicks faster)
2. Create several clips in the timeline, export it the whatever
3. Export it the any format
OBSERVED RESULT
Audio popping, that you can see in the audio spectogram as well
EXPECTED RESULT
No clicks/popping.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS 26.08.2
Operating System Windows 10
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When importing a raw AAC, for example if I demux it from one MKV, kdenlive asks
me to transcode it because the current file is not seekable. Maybe that's what
happend when importing the MKV, but kdenlive doesn't warn us about that. I
imagine that afterward, when rendering; kdenlive/mlt have an issue
reconstructing/decoding the audio, which creates clicks when joining AAC
samples?
Anyway, I think that the user should not have to think about this preferably, I
don't think other editing softwares would have the same issue? I hope that's
it's possible.
