--- Comment #7 from blitz <[email protected]> ---
Wanted to chime in here for HDR folks. The `PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1` is needed
for various games that don't natively support HDR on their own. A good example
would be FFXIV. (The full args may be like `PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 DXVK_HDR=1`)

Tested Proton versions: Proton 9.x - 10.

The behavior observed in that game is that the cursor visually locks in place
while the "invisible" cursor is moving around and still working. The "Alt tab"
(and back in) trick is a minor/temporary fix that allows you to move the mouse
to just where you need it (i.e., for menu items), the moment you "click" into
the game, the cursor visually locks in place.

It should be also noted, that the cursor locks in place when you click into
anything other than the actual Windows/Menus in the game. If you Alt tab out/in
and stick within these in-game menus, the cursor is visually operational.
However, once you click out of the menus (like into the game's world), the
undesirable behavior begins again.

I don't know enough about why this is happening, but I feel like it is
important to call out since UI elements, if Alt tabbed and clicked into allows
the cursor to work normally, leaving the said UI elements and clicking
elsewhere starts the issue.

Setting `PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=0` removes the undesirable behavior, however,
the HDR support is also removed and the game appears muted.

Now, installing/swapping to GE-Proton11-9 as mentioned in
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=527216#c3, that did in fact, resolve the
issue.

- HDR working
- Mouse cursor operating as expected
- No other observed misbehavior

I'm going to continue to test this and confirm, but it should be worth noting
the differences and various observed behaviors given the combinations of
configurations here.
