DESCRIPTION
With the task switcher sort order set to "Recently used", a quick
Alt+Tab (press and release) should switch to the previously active
window, and another quick Alt+Tab should switch back. On the Wayland
session, the windows are instead visited in a fixed circular order.
The same configuration on the Plasma X11 session behaves correctly.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log in to the Plasma (Wayland) session.
2. System Settings > Window Management > Task Switcher:
Sort order = "Recently used", default visualization,
"Only one window per application" unchecked.
3. Open three separate Konsole windows (separate windows, not tabs): 1, 2, 3.
4. Without clicking, press and release Alt+Tab several times in a row.
ACTUAL RESULT
Focus goes 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 1 -> 2 -> 3 ... (a fixed loop, as if the
list were sorted by stacking order).
EXPECTED RESULT
Focus alternates between the two most recently used windows
(e.g. 1 -> 2 -> 1 -> 2 ...). Reaching the third window requires
holding Alt and pressing Tab twice.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Same behavior with real-world applications (Firefox, Konsole,
Obsidian, KOrganizer, Signal, System Settings): the order is
stable for a while, then changes without an obvious reason.
- Clicking into a window is not needed; Alt+Tab itself gives focus.
Focus policy is "Click to focus".
- Switching to the Plasma (X11) session on the same machine and user
account: the problem does not occur, Alt+Tab alternates correctly.
- kwinrc has no non-default TabBox sort-order setting.
- Non-default items in my configuration (not believed to be related,
since the X11 session uses the same config): [tiling layouts
configured; effects enabled: translucency, wobblywindows,
windowswitch; third-party switcher layout previously used,
reverted to default during testing].
