Bug ID: 526748
Summary: Zoom effect causes typing lag with two monitors, no
lag with one monitor
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.7.5
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: effects-various
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
Note: I do not speak English well, so an AI tool helped me translate and write
this report.
The tests and the measurements are mine.
PROBLEM
When I use the Zoom effect with two monitors enabled, there is input lag when I
type
(text appears late). It also happens in Konsole, so it is not only the browser.
With only one monitor enabled, there is no lag.
HOW TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable both monitors.
2. Zoom in with the Zoom effect.
3. Type text.
WHAT I TRIED (no change)
- Both monitors at 1920x1080 60Hz
- VRR on and off
- GPU forced to high performance level
- Changing the scale of the 1440p monitor
- During a test, the CPU was at about 5.2 GHz and GPU load stayed under 10%.
I do not know if this happened on older Plasma versions.
SYSTEM
- Fedora Kinoite 44, Plasma 6.7.5, session type: [WAYLAND ou X11, voir plus
bas]
- AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, both monitors are on it
- HDMI-A-1: 1920x1080 60Hz, scale 1
- DP-3: 2560x1440 180Hz, scale 1.35
