Bug ID: 526641
Summary: Deletion of all instances of found duplicates fails to
index to the next group/pair in the Duplicates list
Classification: Applications
Product: digikam
Version First 9.2.0
Reported In:
Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Searches-Similarity
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
If you select 'Find Duplicates from an Album or larger set of folders, you have
potential matches that should up under the Duplicates tab of the Similarity
module/tab. If there are 2 images, and you delete 1 (either one), the system
assumes you want to retain the other, and indexes the list to the next
pair/group of images in the Duplicates tab list. If you instead delete both
images, you get an error message saying the query from the dataset returned no
images, the match window goes blank, and the entry for the group that was
deleted is removed from the Duplicates list. System doesnt index to the next
group,
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. As explained, use an image set with duplicates
2. Select any entry in the Duplicates tab list, and select all elements for
that entry
3. Delete via DEL or right click menu
OBSERVED RESULT
Duplicates window goes blank, an error message about and empty dataset is
presented and fades, and you arent presented with the next item in the list of
duplicates
EXPECTED RESULT
System should do as it does normally- a delete of all but 1 item in the group
removes that entry from the Similarity/Duplicates list, and indexes to the next
potential group

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a problem for where you have a group of photos that you dont want all
shown in a duplicates group. Aside from real world where maybe there is a
sequence of a sports play that are very similar, but blury and not usable etc,
there are instances where you may have a set that has some placeholder (i.e. an
image removed holder). if I have 15 placeholders with a sad face, these are all
duplicates, but the assumption is I want to keep one. I dont.
There is a secondary bug I will post, but this particular issue is more
problematic because of it. When you delete the group of images, the system also
deletes the entry in the duplicates list, but it doesnt index. Up and down
arrow dont work (and the second bug is related to that in normal operations).
But the problem here is that you dont know where you were in the list-
