            Bug ID: 526589
Summary: Add a "Show desktop icons" toggle to the desktop
                    right-click menu
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First master
       Reported In:
          Platform: Arch Linux
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: desktop:/ IOWorker
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Windows 11 lets you right-click the desktop and choose
View > Show desktop icons to hide or show all desktop icons
instantly, with no settings dialog involved. The icons are only
hidden, so files, positions and layout are untouched, and the same
option brings them back.

Plasma has no equivalent. Hiding icons currently means opening
Configure Desktop and Wallpaper and changing the layout or Folder
View settings, then going back later to undo it. There is no quick
toggle in the context menu, and no global shortcut for it.

Requested feature:
- A "Show Desktop Icons" checkable entry in the desktop context menu
- Unchecking it hides all icons while keeping the folder
contents and icon positions as they are
- Checking it restores everything exactly as before
- Ideally also exposed as a global shortcut action, so it can be
bound in System Settings > Shortcuts

Why this is useful:
Many users want a clean desktop temporarily, for screenshots,
screen sharing, presentations or recordings, and then want their
icons back in one click. Users coming from Windows expect this
option in the right-click menu.
