            Bug ID: 526562
Summary: Include filename suffix matches in the Name field’s
                    completion suggestions
    Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
           Product: frameworks-kio
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Open/save dialogs
          Assignee: [email protected]

  Target Milestone: ---

In the KDE file open dialog, the Name field offers suggestions based on the
beginning of a filename. For example, typing debian lets you select debian.iso
from the dropdown list. However, typing the suffix .iso does not suggest that
file. Personally, I find this behavior very inconvenient. I know that filters
are available, but I think this small enhancement would also be useful and
convenient.

I propose extending filename completion as follows:
1. Show prefix matches first, as it does now.
2. Then append files whose names end with the entered text.
3. Avoid duplicates when a file matches both conditions.

I can implement this myself, but I would like to discuss the approach first. As
I understand it, this would involve adding a new function to KCompletion or
KUrlCompletion and then using it in the file dialog.
