Bug ID: 526439
Summary: Dolphin crashes i.c.m. Samba when trying to reach a
Windows Server Share ( with help from chatgpt)
Classification: Applications
Product: dolphin
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
Trigger: Dolphin → Network → WAN / SMB.
Result: Dolphin aborts with SIGABRT.
Reproduced: multiple times, across multiple coredumps.
Not smbd: the crashing process is Dolphin itself.
Thread evidence: other KIO threads are blocked in
QAbstractSocket::waitForReadyRead().
Crashing component: libKF6KIOCore.so.6.13.0.
The juicy bit: the abort goes through
KCoreDirLister::setDirOnlyMode(bool).
Symbol resolution: we used addr2line against the actual installed KIOCore
binary to turn the raw offset into a named KIO function.
So “Team Teach” didn't merely stumble across a crash — we narrowed it from
“Samba/Dolphin weirdness” down into KIOCore's directory-listing machinery.
