DESCRIPTION
I often accidentally hit "Print Screen" button when I actually want to hit
"F12", which causes the Spectacle screenshotting overlay to be opened.
I then press ESC to quickly dismiss it, which does indeed dismiss it, but it
then causes the Spectacle window to be brought up, with a fresh screenshot of
all screens. This causes me to need to additionally need to go out of my way to
also close that window, which is annoying (if not outright infuriating
sometimes).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Press PrintScreen on keyboard
2. Wait for Spectacle screenshot overlay to come up
3. Press ESC
OBSERVED RESULT
After pressing ESC, the Spectacle window pops up, presenting all screens in its
window. Despite taking an unprompted screenshot, it was not auto-saved like a
properly taken screenshot would.
EXPECTED RESULT
The ESC key should dismiss the screenshot overlay and that's it, there's no
reason to bring up Spectacle window.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window): Fedora 44, but also happens on Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.28.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
While playing around with it multiple times to reproduce it, I've pressed
"Cancel" button on the overlay one time instead of pressing ESC. This didn't
cause the Spectacle window to show up, confirming that's the proper behavior
and ESC key situation is a bug.
But! Interestingly, it seems that after pressing this "Cancel" button, further
dismissals with ESC key do not seem to show up Spectacle window anymore?!
Either it's a coincidence or perhaps a clue that could help someone finding the
root cause of this bug. Previously, the bug was happening with 100% consistency
for me.
