It has been brought to my attention that kate runs every document in a single
process and additional processes only exist because they were started with -b,
so I can "resolve" the issue by removing -b from my .desktop file. This would
still make me wonder what the actual use of -b is, as calling processes can't
rely upon the flag unless it can be guaranteed that no other documents are
open.

I forgot to answer in the body of the report in the previous message but my
operating system is correctly assigned to the ticket (CachyOS).
