DESCRIPTION
The the conventional F2 batch rename, in a folder with multiple items, the
system defaults the rename pattern (i.e. [.dir] [dir] # to the 'last used'
pattern. If the folder contains only 1 file, then the default isnt applied, and
instead the default becomes the existing file name. As this happens when only 1
of a group of photos is selected, you have this logical fork where you are
using F2 to do both single file rename and batch rename.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There are 2 Rename entities in the Shortcuts config, but there is no
description (i.e. Rename (File) and Rename (Batch). so hard to know if that is
the intent, which which does what.
Regardless, it seems to me that in a batch rename, where for example I might do
a View/Album Sub Tree and rename a slew of nested folder content, folders with
1 file may be handles as batch rename in that mode, but not if the single
folder is selected where it contains 1 file, or where the file is selected.
It may be that the better route here is to have a mode where if the folder root
is selected, or a Select All is used, then the default mode of F2 is bult/batch
rename (defaulting the rename pattern to last used), and only if a file is
manually selected does the F2 default to file rename. That would be more
consistent.
If this is already addressed by the dual Rename entries in the Shortcuts setup
menu, OK, but regardless, the default has one set to F2 and the other blank,
and F2 behaves inconsistently in this context.
