The badge in the task manager icon currently displays the total number of
unread messages in all rooms, which is generally a rather meaningless big
number if one is in many different rooms.
The badge is semantically supposed to represent a notificacion count (that's
how it works eg. in kmail or konversation), so it should only display the
number of notifications according to the user's notificacions settings. If
someone wants to be notified of every message in a room, they can enable that
in the room's settings, and only then the badge should display the total number
of messages.
