David REVOY <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #3 from David REVOY <[email protected]> --- Created attachment 190603 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=190603&action=edit ^ Photo of the stylus button and the option not working on GUI I'm also affected, especially with the XpPen Deco 01V3. A model I keep using on my laptop for live demo and travel. In fact, after adding udev-hid-bpf driver definition to most of my tablets (more than 6 afair) to revert manually the "eraser as a mode" mandatory on the second stylus, Peter had the idea that this was syndrom was just too recurrent and the norm in the industry and wrote this new option in libinput. The udev-hid-bpf driver for the XpPen Deco 01V3 button was then left 'as it is' because the libinput rule was now existing and Peter was expecting the option to spread rapidly on GNOME and Plasma GUI for users. The tablet are now all left , btw, with this 'eraser mode by default' on purpose: after now two or three years of users constrained to this behavior, some of them are expecting this "stylus as an eraser mode button" out of the box as a feature. So, it is still a good 'default' to have, but for accessibility, in this case, it's good to also switch the first button of the stylus to a "right-click" so it's possible to operate the system with just a stylus configured this way. With now almost all Huion/XpPen/Gaomon/Ugee hot plugging on Linux and presenting themselves as 'Microsoft Compatible pen input", this "second stylus button button as an eraser" is the cherry on the top of the cake that could make many device 'just work' out of the box, or give this illusion for many users. It's not a proper driver, and sometime it might obscure special ability or spec of the device, but this 'work out of the box' is, imo, a very important fix to get many modern graphic pen tablet feels compatible. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
