I don't know what else to add, but I noticed that the bug also appears in other places. For example when I enter the edit mode on the desktop and chose "Add or Manage Widgets..." on one of the panels. Before it can display any of the widgets, plasmashell freezes. Of course there is also a "Search" field in focus.
