Thanks - I gave that a try, but still the same problem unfortunately. Doing that did make me realise that there is a workaround - arrange your screens so that they touch only at a corner (not along an edge). Then the edge bleeds into a void, not into the other screen. It's not very desirable though, because if you do that, then you can't move your mouse naturally between the two screens.
