            Bug ID: 516851
Summary: Using a search term in the Album window seems to drop
                    focus on selected/active thumbnail
    Classification: Applications
           Product: digikam
      Version First 9.0.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: Microsoft Windows
                OS: Microsoft Windows
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Searches-Engine
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In the past, if I had a generic folder as a collection point for to-be-sorted
photos, I could select on a photo, and then in the Album tree bar Search (free
form text box), type in a word that would remove non-candidate branches. That
would make it much easier to drag said selected photo to desired branch/leaf
folder for later ops. Now, it seems that in typing part of a matching folder,
the system will not just remove non-matching branches, but it will change focus
to the last image in the parent folder of the folder containing the
previously-selected image. Backing out of the search term or deleting it doesnt
revert the previously-active folder/image.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. With any subfolder (calls it S1) that has child folders (c1, c2 etc),
select an image in c2
2. In the Album tree view search, type in a few characters of an existing
folder- even on outsides of S1

OBSERVED RESULT
System will change focus from selected/active image thumbnail in c2 to the last
image in folder S1 if there are 1 or more matches for the search term in any
part of the tree

EXPECTED RESULT
Selected image and active folder should remain active, but tree should remove
non-matching candidate folders/branches. That makes it possible to drag the
image of interest to the desired folder. Removing the filter term should unwind
the filtering on the tree, but the active folder should remain the originally
selected folder UNLESS the user clicks on/selects some other folder in the
tree.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It is possible this is now a configuration setting- I did not see anything that
seemed to match. But I dont see any upside to a filter causing the currently
active pointer to folder/image to be changed to the parent folder and some
image in it. Certainly a filter should limit the content of the tree structure,
but absent a user selecting a folder manually, the system should not lose its
index.
