            Bug ID: 516847
Summary: Taking a snapshot of a rectangular region in Spectacle
reduces refresh rate to 48hz when adaptive sync is set
                    to automatic
    Classification: Applications
           Product: Spectacle
      Version First 6.6.1

            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I have two 240hz monitors that support FreeSync Pro, and I enabled the Adaptive
Sync option (set to automatic) after migrating to Wayland recently.

Now when I take a snapshot of a rectangular region, the refresh rate of the
monitor that the highlight box is in is reduced to 48hz, the other monitor
turns black briefly but comes back at 240hz. If the box spans across both
monitors, only the left (primary) one's refresh rate is reduced.

The issue does not happen if I turn adaptive sync off.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set adaptive sync to automatic
2. Try taking a snapshot of a rectangular region

OBSERVED RESULT
Spectacle seems to behave like some applications/games that run in fullscreen
exclusive mode, where it takes over the control of refresh rates.

EXPECTED RESULT
I wasn't running anything special (just Firefox) that already adjusted the
refresh rate so I expected the refresh rate to be left untouched in this case.

If another fullscreen program is already running, I'd also expect Spectacle to
adjust to the current mode instead of setting its own.
