I assume you are referring to:
/usr/bin/nvidia-sleep.sh
/usr/lib/systemd/system-sleep/nvidia

Of course, I completely forgot about those. This VT switching workaround has
been in place for ages, I'd say close to 10 years by now. IIRC, it was
originally created to address graphical corruption (like black windows and
flickering screen parts) after waking from suspend.
