Bug ID: 516594
Summary: Received incomplete file after always just 3
successfully sent files (Android+Debian)
Classification: Applications
Product: kdeconnect
Version First 25.04.2
Reported In:
Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: desktop-application
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Only 3 files can be sent successfully at a time - if one tries sending more, it
fails.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Android app
2. Start app on desktop on Debian
3. Connect them with (only) the file sharing module enabled
4. Send files from phone to computer (I think the same happens the other way
around but haven't tested)
OBSERVED RESULT
It sends 3 files (photos) successfully but not any more than that. It then
shows this KDE notification:
>Receiving files (Failed)
>Received incomplete file from: phone name: filename
EXPECTED RESULT
It should send them all successfully like it used to.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian 13
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This used to work fine with some earlier versions in Debian 12 and earlier. I
don't know with which version exactly it changed.
As explained at https://unix.stackexchange.com/q/803250/233262 currently my
only option to share files between computer and Android is KDE Connect (has
this problem) or the app "android-file-transfer" since usb connection doesn't
work anymore. This is why it's important to fix this. It's been like that for a
while now so wasn't a temporary glitch that was solved with a reboot.
I suspect there is some issue with concurrency - maybe sending fewer files at a
time or in parallel could help. If a file fails to send, maybe have the app try
again with lower speed settings.
