            Bug ID: 505618
Summary: Allow customizing weight for bold font
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kate
      Version First Git
       Reported In:
          Platform: openSUSE
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: application
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

I'm using a variable-weight font
(https://fsd.it/shop/fonts/pragmatapro-variable/ - which allows any weight
between 1 and 1000, but other fonts provide weights beyond Regular and Bold).

The problem is that kate renders bold font too bold (see the attached
screenshots) and I'd like to have it lighter. The other screenshot is with
"Bold" replaced to "DemiBold" - just to compare.

There are multiple ways to achieve it including CSS-ish customization for each
style in theme (rather than predefined bold and italics), but the simplest
would be to just add a slider like "Line height multiplier" into the
"Appearance" settings tab.

(I'm not sure wither a separate bug is needed on ktexteditor-framework about
wonky rendering - characters are not the same size which stretches the line and
makes YAML editing especially challenging 🤭. But this I could try to fix).
