Bug ID: 505005 Summary: Migrating user settings Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version First 8.6.0 Reported In: Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based) OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: mio...@tuta.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Easily preserve user configuration files in case of a reinstallation or for using digikam on another computer. Some of the settings I need to adjust each time I reinstall digikam include: geotagging markers, assigned person thumbnails, setting up reverse geotagging fields or labels, or, for example, custom renaming patterns, camera models in the import section. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Configure digikam to your liking or according to your needs. 2. My video and photo collection is never on the same device as the operating system. In the event of a crash or a reinstallation, I can access my collection from another operating system or computer. 3. Accessing it from another computer (or from the same computer running a different Linux operating system - dual boot) requires a fresh install of digikam. It would be helpful to be able to import user settings here. OBSERVED RESULT Manually setting up user parameters from scratch, as mentioned above, to maintain the cohesion of my album collection with new additions. EXPECTED RESULT Since this is a wish, I would like to have a user data export system (with selectable checkboxes for different fields) that could be imported into new Digikam installations. Ideally, with the option for encryption and password protection.
