            Bug ID: 504201
Summary: Option to disable screen blanking on the lockscreen
                    over xrdp
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
           Version: 6.1.5
          Platform: Ubuntu
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Screen locking
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: 1.0

I'm trying to set up a Linux terminal server for use by our students. I have
decided to use Ubuntu 24.10 with Plasma as a DE.
I have set up XRDP and everything seems to be working fine, there's just this
one issue. When locking the screen either manually or by timeout, a black
screen appears. You can only get to the login screen by pressing ctlr+alt+del,
which is a bit of a problem over xrdp on Windows machines or on Macbooks that
have no del key. I would also have to tell everyone that they need to use that
shortcut, which would cause needless friction. Ideally I would like to disable
the screen blanking completely, or alternatively have it go away on *any* key
press.
I have figured out I can disable the lock screen completely by using the
--no-lockscreen option for the ksmserver, however this is not ideal because I
would like to have the option to lock the screen manually if desired. I could
try and use a different lock screen implementation but there don't seem to be a
lot of options out there.
I read that X11 support is on its way out. I would love to switch to wayland
but as long as there are no satisfactory remote desktop tools I don't have much
of a choice.
