Sorry, this is nonsense. Lazy Sync has a tool button in the status bar for
immediate synchronization. Under the Extras menu, you'll find the entry "Check
for new entries." This is the same as the scan at startup.

Normally, digiKam doesn't have any memory leaks; we're currently investigating
the OpenCL issue. The increased memory usage you've observed in digiKam is the
image cache, which can be 1GB or more depending on the system. However, this is
a cache memory that isn't lost; it's constantly being used. I'll close this
request.
