Bug ID: 502405 Summary: Cannot drag file into the Open File dialog's Name: field Classification: Frameworks and Libraries Product: frameworks-kio Version: 6.11.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Open/save dialogs Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: aspotas...@gmail.com CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Cannot drag file into the Open File dialog's Name field. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open "Open File" dialog, e.g. for uploading a file in Chrome. 2. Open a folder with files in Dolphin 3. Drag a file from Dolphin onto the "Name:" field in the "Open File" dialog. OBSERVED RESULT Mouse cursor changes to the red circle (meaning "forbidden"), nothing happens when I release LMB. As a workaround, I could drop the file in the directory list view to get the file selected, but it's not logical because drag&dropping files between directory lists typically means copying/moving files. As of today, we have inconsistency which causes confusion. EXPECTED RESULT The dragged file path should be inserted into the "Name:" field, the file at path should be selected in the "Open File" dialog. KF5 had this behavior.
