We're aware of the problem, but have never been able to reproduce it. Either
the database was locked and the information couldn't be written, or the files
were open in other programs and were blocked for digiKam.
The problem with the locked database should no longer occur in current digiKam
versions.
Read the metadata from the affected images into the database again, either via
the Item or Album menu.
