FWIW I can't reproduce this with my keyboard's play/pause button; pressing it
while on the lock screen plays or pauses the media irrespective of whether the
UI controls are active. Unfortunately I don't have a Bluetooth headset with
integrated play/pause functionality to check your specific use case.
