Bug ID: 373952 Summary: kwin_x11 too high memory usage Product: kwin Version: 5.8.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: platform-x11-standalone Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: kol...@aon.at Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 102893 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=102893&action=edit kwin support information I just switched from KDE4 kwin to plasma5/kwin5 and see now that kwin_x11 uses more than 180MB of memory (measured with KDE's system monitor). I'm pretty sure that I have never seen this high memory usage in kwin when using KDE4. Is this expected ? Currently I have 10 desktops, about 15 windows in sum open. kwin_x11 is currently the process which uses the most memory on the whole system. Even plasmashell uses "just" 152MB >From the "detailed memory usage" window: ---------- The process kwin_x11 (with pid 27142) is using approximately 223.9 MB of memory. It is using 188.8 MB privately, 32.1 MB for pixmaps, and a further 27.0 MB that is, or could be, shared with other programs. ---------- Quickly testing a similar situation on a different PC with openSuse 13.2/kwin4, I see a mem usage of about 60MB only The kwin support information is attached -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
