I can reproduce this on my Fedora KDE 41 desktop and a KDE Neon VM (Plasma
6.3.0 on both). On those devices, the immediate presentation of the password
prompt occurs whether locking happens via a keyboard shortcut, the Application
Launcher menu item, or because of the idle timer.
For what it's worth, when the screen locks due to idle time, the "Delay before
password required" setting is still honored, even though the password prompt is
displayed.
