task bar many speaker icons

1a) Yes, I noticed that when I checked if maybe the setting got renamed or
moved (I tried to enable/disable every setting to ensure this is not possible
in any other/new way)

1b) What is the use of this icon if it doesn't do anything more or better than
the applications tab in the audio settings in the task bar (speaker symbol)

2) The speaker icon is displayed on all windows even only one plays audio (see
attached image)
(Fun fact: Here there was no audio playing and I have no idea why the speaker
symbol was even displayed)
