Bug is substantially equivalent to #339214 and #362339 but either surprisingly
yet in "unconfirmed" state.
All are related to change of location of trash folder from local to an IMAP
folder.
There's a workaround here:
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=215&t=120777&p=368778#p368778 that
implies use of 'akonadiconsole'.
But, in my opinion, this bug SHOULD indeed be taken into proper attention as
it's particularly annoying: it stops KMail immediately after execution and
discourages non-skilled users. Furthermore the workaround can not be readily
found.
