I've done that -  that is in deed a working workaround... 
Still, this should be fixed - I added a note to the existing bug report I found
on this...

I've done a few tests and got some success - using "plain" password with
StartSSL seems to work.  
(making sure it's using the same app apssword obviously!)

Great! Thank's a lot - getting mail and I am able to send also! 

Now if the KMail search folders are fixed eventually (those broke again! Bug
report gets no reaction...) then Kmail is a real mail client again!
