still, even with the option enable i cannot reproduce on master at all, kickoff
keeps up no matter how fast i move the cursor.
i wonder how will feel putting a slight event compression doing the switch only
when the cursor has been on the item for 0.1 seconds or so, should still feel
responsive enough but moving fast wouldn't do this anymore
