Bug ID: 498476 Summary: Wishlist: New Virtual Output option in screen sharing should let one specify the resolution Classification: Plasma Product: xdg-desktop-portal-kde Version: 6.2.4 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com CC: aleix...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When you use `xdg-desktop-portal` to share the screen, you are given the option to activate a `New Virtual Output` to be shared. This can be extra useful to record the behavior of some application, or cast it while maintaining your regular screen usable. However, there is an important limitation in that you cannot select the new virtual output resolution. That appears to be always 1920x1080. Even if you go the the KDE settings -> display and you select that display, that single resolution appears to be available. In some cases this is rather limiting. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Launch `obs` (obs studio) 2. Add a new source, select screen capture (pipewire) as the source type 3. See the *screen sharing* window from the kde xdg-desktop-portal backend 4. Select New Virtual Output OBSERVED RESULT A new virtual output is activated only capable of the 1920x1080 resolution. EXPECTED RESULT Either the resolution is asked, or it should be possible to change it with the display settings. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0 Qt Version: 6.8.1 Kernel Version: 6.11.11-1-MANJARO (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS with Radeon Graphics Memory: 30.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon 680M Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Product Name: ROG Zephyrus G14 GA402RK_GA402RK System Version: 1.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION There is an additional problem in that when you activate the New Virtual Output, your primary output information is lost. That might need to be reported separately. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
