I agree, this is what Gnome does since last year: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-online-accounts/-/merge_requests/139/diffs#e5013ca9537031cc64a62645433ba8c7f51deb1e It's probably less likely to make Google unhappy.
