Ya, this is nice to have this automatic changelog. Not sure it can replace both our changelog and the readme.txt we wrote at each release to synthetize and classify changes between two releases, but maybe the later is now enough. I'll take a better care of commit description. I thought commit had to be as short and expressive as possible but I saw you sometime use long multiline comments. Do you know the best practises in terms of commit description ? Michaël

we are generating a pretty compelling git Changelog now via maven, see bottom of https://sourceforge.net/projects/jump-pilot/files/OpenJUMP2_snapshots/ . so as long as the commit text is descriptive enough and the bug/issue number is mentioned we will be able to carbon-copy it to the distro Changelog. i'd say we can abandon the extra effort to manually maintain ChangeLog from now on.
