I was not correct, probably. The bold text below mark the differences
between Window7 and MacOSX/Linux
On MacOSX (10.7) and Linux (Ubuntu):
a) layer has different geometries, point and linestrings
b) Save datasets as
c) The save datasets window opens. I write the name of the file (or simpli
accept the one by default) and choose to save as SHP
d) Click OK at the bottom of Save Datasets as windows
e) On Windows 7:* **"Save datasets as" window is closed and there is a
warning message that says it is impossible to save that layer because it
has different geometries. *Than users close the warning window and proceed
to separate geometries in different layers. Than save again
f) On MacOSX (10.7) and Linux (Ubuntu): *There is no warning message, "Save
datasets as" window is simply closed*. Layer iis not saved, of coarse, but
the feeling of users is that that layer is saved somehow.
I tested it both with MacOSX and Linux yesterday
