Hei Ed & Michael, yes... windows users are lazy and do what they are used to and that's what I am actually seeing for myself too: if I have the option for an exe to install, then I download it. (Though rediscovering the Ubuntu packaging service: the whole packaging on linux is nice too... even nicer)
