Hei Uwe, it should indicate, that if you want to process you raster image with Sextante analysis functions (slope, aspect, watershed), then you need to load the raster with this option. Because this file loader will use the (ported) Pirol image file loading mechanism, which allows to let the images be accessed by Sextante, and not the original JUMP one, which acts if you use the normal "file" option.
Why the chose the term "Sextante" (the nautical device)...
