I drove up to Davis from Stockton last night. The local chapter of the OSGeo arranged for a speaker from the Plone Project and myself to speak to the computer science students at the University of California about the Google Summer of Code program. I have at least two (2) and possibly three (3) students that are interested in working on OpenJUMP. The greatest interest seemed to be in visualization/rendering code.
I certainly don't want to try mentoring two (2) students again. I'd like to know if Stefan would be willing to take his own student this year. If Stefan can't make room for this, I know Andreas from the deegree Project has already volunteered. Would we have another OpenJUMP programmer that would be willing to serve as a back-up mentor? I'm serving as an assistant administrator for the summer of code project at OSGeo this year, so I'll be able to guide new mentors. The Sunburned Surveyor P.S. - I'll be working with the UC Davis students on possible rendering/visualization projects with OpenJUMP. I'll introduce them to the mailing list as soon as I know there interest in participating extended beyond last night's meeting. :] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Jump-pilot-devel mailing list Jump-pilot-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/jump-pilot-devel
