Hi,
I made a test also.
- nightly build openjump-20071028-0017
- it does not open ECW files for me as it is (layer name appears on layer list,
but image does not show)
- when I copied some NC*.dll files from my ECW compressor installation to
lib\ext directory OpenJUMP opens and shows ecw files
- if I zoom in and out a couple of times with left/right mouse click, not only
the image disappears but the whole OpenJUMP!
OJ just goes away without any warnings etc. Puff and it's gone.
While testing I had only ecw image layer in my project. Memory is not the
problem, OJ reports memory usage as around 20 MB before it goes away.
I am sure that I have been able to use OJ nightly builds with ecw imagery for a
real work some time ago. I'll look tomorrow if I have a working installation
left on some computer. Ecw worked extremely well with OpenJUMP and it would be
nice to get it back. The ecw dll's I installed now are pretty old and I hope
that they are the reason for the problem.
I wonder why Peppe is able to open ecw images with pure nightly build at all
because it does not work for me. Could it be possible that OpenJUMP finds dll's
from some other installed program on Peppe's computer?

Subject: [JPP-Devel] Bug on ECW
Hi all,
I tested a previous version of OJ NB 20070902
Also this version has the same bug of OJ 20081018
* it opens ECW files (Ermapper DLL embedded)
* after zooming in(out sometimes the image disapears
This doesn't happen with JPG and TIF image (already
tested)
Regards
Peppe
