yes, please write it on the wiki. I think you do not need to ask for 
that, a) i trust you, and b) that why we have a wiki :)

on the ecw-dll's files:
it is not (only?) a license issue. The problem is, that dll's are 
useless for Unix and MacOSX users. thats why i did not want to pack them 
into the distribution
