SS, I've just started using it as I have a whole bunch of interconnected projects and copying the jar files between them was just not working, with maven you can get it to manage some of those dependencies when compiling and packaging, it's not perfect but so far seems better than what I have right now.
Ideally maven works best if you split things into different modules (sub projects) so we would have jump-api, jump-workbench for the vivid stuff and openjump + others for each of the modules. I don't think I'll propose that yet but I should be able to get it working with what we have right now.
