Subject: [JPP-Devel] Next Official Release of OpenJUMP
I wanted to give everyone a brief update on the status of my work on the
next OpenJUMP release.
I have, with much help from others, "resolved" 3 bugs from the JPP
SourceForge Tracker, which was my goal for the release. We were unable to
duplicate Bug #1487099 and we determined it may have been caused by user
specific circumstances. It has been given a status of "closed" on the
SourceForge bug tracker. Bug #1546899 was solved by Stefan with some help
from Michael Michaud. (I have not yet closed this bug on the SourceForge
Tracker, but will do so if Stefan feels this is appropriate.) I have
performed testing of Bug #1527784, which involved an error when drawing a
LineString and zooming to another layer. I was unable to duplicate this bug
on either my Microsoft Windows operating system or on my Debian Linux/GNOME
operating system. I have closed this bug on the SourceForge Tracker.
I have decided against using the IzPack installer for this next release of
OpenJUMP. I will instead be distributing an EXE file made with JSmooth for
Windows users and a batch file for Linux users. I will also provide fresh
installation instructions.
I will include the new OpenJUMP Basics Tutorial in the documentation for the
release.
I hope to make 2 Ant build files available for OpenJUMP developers by the
end of the week. One will be for "quick builds" that can be used to test
changes in OpenJUMP. The other will be a "full build" that will include
targets that create Javadoc and a zip file of the source code.
I am willing to release my work at the SurveyOS Project as the first
"OpenJUMP-Ex" release if the other developers have concerns about releasing
this as an official "OpenJUMP" release. Now that I have dialed in the build
process for OpenJUMP I hope to contribute to more regular releases. I will
plan on making some more bug fixes and creating another release at the end
of March or the first part of April.
I was hoping to get the release I am working on currently out by the end of
the day Friday. Please let me know about any comments or concerns you may
have.
