I think you'll have to run in a debugger, either Gallium.jl (installed manually 
since Pkg isn't working for you) or gdb or lldb, to see exactly where the error 
is happening in libgit2 cloning METADATA. Do the 0.5.0 generic Linux release 
binaries have the same problem?
