Well the thing is that running a script from Cairo.jl/samples takes 10 seconds on my new iMac upgraded to Sierra and 2 seconds on my old one, which is too old to upgrade the OS to Sierra. I thought I'd try 'measuring' Julia on both the old iMac and the new one, to see if there was an overall degradation with the new OS. But it became a fractal problem of installation dependencies, so I've kind of given up. :)
