If you are using the media plugin then just invoke "media" on the
desired element when a play button is clicked.  For example, given
markup like this:

<div>
    <button class="play">Play</button>
    <span class="song" href="song.mp3">Song Title</span>
</div>

I would use script something like this:

$('button.play').click(function() {
    $(this).next('span.song').media();
});
