Absolutely!

The one area you can run into issues is with namespace prefixs, other than
that though you should be good to go.  Just use selectors as you would
normally

<node>
 <book>
  <author>data</author>
 </book>
</node>>

to grab the data text from this you would say

$("node > book > author").text();

or you could just use $("author").text();
