Since you using gmail, you don't get your own email when you post to a mailing list. When your original message got reply, it will continue your original email, in gmail it's called a conversation. This is the main reason why you don't get your own email in gmail. So, after you send email to mailing list, give that email the label you usually use for that mailing list. If somehow your email failed to reach mailing list, gmail will wend you an information email.
