Using jquery.ui-1.6rc4\jquery.ui-1.6rc4\demos\tabs\default.html as a
base
Getting there... ui-state-disabled is assigned but...
line 11 ...
        $(function() {
                $("#tabs").tabs();
                // tried 3 disable variations from different sources
                //$("#tabs").data('disabled.tabs', [1,2]);
                $("#tabs").tabs("disable", 1);  //works
                $("#tabs").tabs("disable", 2); //works
                //$("#tabs").tabs({disabled: [1,2]});
        });
The array versions dont work - should they in this context?
