Thanks both for your suggestions - I think you're right about the fact that this approach probably wouldn't solve my problem, even moreso since the offending html comment appears before the DOCTYPE and is probably therefore not even part of the DOM (?). Altering the server architecture is unfortunately out of the question as we are at the mercy of our corporate parent.The IE jQuery jerkiness problem is here: www.ceridian.co.uk/amp (click on the green question marks in IE).
